Natural Hazards
Why is it important to study Natural Hazards?
The observation and study of natural hazards keep many scientists engaged in order to preserve and better protect people and infrastructure on the planet. The various natural hazards such as earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, geological faults, and earth slides can be studied by measuring the travel of seismic waves and taking decisions for people and infrastructure.
How can AVA Software assist?
The AVA Software can measure and analyse the seismic wave velocities to develop forecasts and scenarios. By monitoring the displacement, very precise models of e.g. fault zones can be determined. For detailed monitoring of seismic waves, the hardware sensors can be placed in different parts of the area to get a better picture of the target region. Then the data can be overlaid into the AVA Software to better explore the different picks. With the help of the water flow diagram, the individual recordings can be added to an overall picture to compare and analyze the different time intervals. The 3D visualisation of the displacements can be used to determine very precisely the direction and intensity of the displacement in 3D.
The determination of the speed and acceleration of the seismic waves can provide a lot of valuable information for the preservation and protection of people and infrastructure.
