Structure Monitoring
Why should you monitor your civil engineering structures?
The construction of buildings has the following phases: planning, construction, commissioning, and maintenance. In the planning phase, the planning parameters such as project acceleration are set to adapt the structure to the local conditions. During construction, the structure is built. Before commissioning, the structure is inspected to check all visible parameters such as installed materials and invisible parameters such as the planned project acceleration.
During the warranty period and afterwards, it is essential to know if problems occur (settlements, cracks, or static problems), and whether these problems result from the installed materials or are due to the failed acceleration parameters. These two parameters are closely related and changes in one will lead to deviations in the other.
How can AVA Software assist?
The AVA Software can measure the velocity, acceleration and displacement parameters during the commissioning check of the facility, comparing these data with the design values. This will document and log the data, and attach the AVA Software report to the commissioning documentation of the facility being inspected.
Measurements and analysis may also be performed during the warranty period and beyond to ensure proper operation of the facility and to prevent emergencies.
Skyscrapers
The AVA Software can measure and analyze the impact of displacements influenced by sunshine, wind, base settlement, and facade deformations. Analyses of design parameters can also be carried out during construction, controlling the quality and performance of the project.
TV Тowers, Radio Тowers and Тransmitting Аntennas
The AVA Software also finds significant applications in vibration and displacement measurement of high-rise structures, such as TV and radio towers, and transmitting antennas and high-power masts.
The data obtained from towers rotating sections – such as panoramic restaurants, and visitor platforms – is particularly useful. This can be analyzed for upcoming repair works or to prevent accidents.
